The Almafuerte neighborhood, known as Villa Palito, is one of the informal, un‑planned settlements on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. It’s an extremely poor district of ramshackle houses without basic services, home to some 18,900 registered residents. Drug use and dealing, high crime rates and domestic violence are among the most widespread scourges, and the youngest inhabitants are exposed to every kind of danger.

Since 2021, Progetto Arca has supported the association Aime Nevide which, together with the parish of San Roque Gonzales y Compañeros Mártires, runs the Virgen de Guadalupe community soup kitchen. Open every day, including Saturdays, it provides 1,200 meals daily, relying also on local volunteers who prepare and distribute the food. In addition, the kitchen employs sixteen people, all residents of Villa Palito, thereby contributing to the financial support of their families.
